Pitti Uomo, style, fashion, trend, elegance and beauty, but also extravagance and eccentricity for a world to be discovered and always evolving.
Pitti Uomo is the largest and most important trade fair in the world reserved for the male universe.
Florence becomes the world capital of fashion for four days, usually in the months of June and January of each year. Not only clothing, but also collections of footwear, small leather goods, accessories in general.
The event is organized by Pitti Immagine and in the four days in which it is held, the Tuscan capital explodes with collateral events. Fashion shows and installations by stylists and brands involve the whole city like a colorful bandwagon.
Its origin dates back to the early 1950s with the first fashion shows organized in the White Room of Palazzo Pitti.
Subsequently, in 1954, the Florence Center for Italian Fashion was born, holding a branched group of companies operating in support of the Italian fashion system, of which Pitti Immagine is part.
The worldwide success of Made in Italy began from the fashion shows in the White Room. With its events, Pitti Immagine has contributed to make Florence a recognized destination, as well as for art, also for its style, elegance and for all that universe that revolves around the fashion system.
In fact, the latest trends are the result of research and innovation both in terms of design and the use of increasingly cutting-edge materials are on display.
In September 1972 the first edition of Pitti Uomo took place, essentially intended for the promotion of the best Italian industry on large foreign markets. Over time it has acquired an increasingly international connotation, thanks to the enriched offer of young emerging designers who come from all over the world every year.
The headquarter of Pitti Immagine events is Fortezza da Basso. Military construction of Renaissance origin, inside which there are buildings with different architectural styles from the eighteenth century until today. Over the years, other spaces have also been added, such as Dogana in via Valfonda, the nineteenth-century Villa Vittoria and Palazzo degli Affari.
Leopolda, the former railway station of Florence Capital, is used by Pitti Immagine for events such as fashion shows and presentations as well as exhibitions dedicated to the different languages of contemporary life. It is a space with an industrial flavor and undisputed charm, renovated in 1996 by the architect Gae Aulenti.
Leopolda is also the place chosen for the annual appointment with Taste, the food and wine event dedicated to the excellence of taste and food lifestyle always organized by Pitti Immagine.
Among the main features that make unique Opera Boutique B&B is its proximity to Fortezza da Basso, just a 5 minute walk away. But Leopolda station is also easily accessible, thanks to the tramway (Strozzi-Fallaci stop) 400 meters from the property.
Fortezza da Basso is also home of important events including Pitti Filati and Pitti Bimbo and other events of absolute importance that can be consulted by clicking here.
Last but not least, a wonderful photo of the White Room of Palazzo Pitti could not be missing. After all, what we are is what we were.
